Presidental and parliamental elections were held in two neighboring Central Asia republics at last Sunday

Former acting Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov won a landslide victory in the early presidential elections in country, as evidenced preliminary data of Central Election Commission, based on information of electronic election ballots.

According to preliminary results, Japarov won 80.65%. At the second place – Adahan Madumarov with 6.58%, third place – Babyrjan Tolybaev woth the 2.13% results. Other 14 candidate received from 0.08% to 1.51% of the votes. The turnout was 33.13%.

Some candidates – opponents of Sadyr Japorov – predictably  did not recognize election`s preliminary results. For example, the «Butun Kyrgyzstan» party`s lider Adahan Madumarov announce about falsifications with electronic ballots and the ex-head of National Security Committee Abdil Segizbayev said that authorities allegedly actively used administration resources and attracted state employees to vote.

Japarov himself, who was released from jail and took over as prime-minister in the wake of autumn protests in country and the resignation of President Jeenbekov, noted that he has no resentment and hatred towards his opponents and campaigners against his candidacy: «My only goal is developing of the country and ensuring unity».

He stressed that voters gave him power precisely to fight against corruption. «I will not repeat the mistakes of the previous authorities. We will stay away from political pressure and we will not be tolerating against those who violate the principle of the rule of law», – promised elected head of the state.

Along to presidential election in country, a referendum also was held on the form of government. Kyrgyzstanis could vote for saving of parliamentary republic, returning to presidential republic or against both of them. According to preliminary data, more than 81% of voters supported presidential form of government. Parliamentary form was supported by 10.5% of voters.

Simultaneously with presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan, elections of deputies to Majlis (parliament) and maslihats (local representative governments) were heled in Kazakhstan.

According, to exit polls, three out five parties participated in the elections were elected to parliament: Nur Otan (71.97%), Ak Zhol (10.18%), and the People`s Partyt of Kazakhstan (9.03%). In Kazakhstan according to the law, parties that have overcome the 7% threshold of voted enter to the Majlis. A number of opposition political groups traditionally tried to protest, but their attempts were easily suppressed by the authorities.

Turkey expressed satisfaction with the holding of parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan. «We wish that the results of the these elections will serve benefit for friendly and fraternal people of Kazakhstan. We believe that our strategically partnership with fraternal Kazakhstan, which celebrates 30th anniversary of independence, will develop and strength every year», – Turkish Foreign Ministry said a statement.
